Digital Monkey Shines

Movies, Games and Other Diversions

The Monkey Shines were the first three test films made by the Edison Manufacturing Company and were used to test what became the Kinetoscope.  The films are short and out-of-focus and hard to relate to the current state of modern film making.  While the cinema is often credited as starting in 1895 with the first public screening by the Lumiere brothers in Paris, it took another twenty years for even the most basic techniques of film making to be discovered and developed into art.

As a member of Generation X, I have lived through a similar era for the latest form of entertainment:  video games.  This blog covers my passions for cinema, gaming, fiction, and whatever other fascinations I have.
